It has been a week since the arrival of my son, Jeremy Tan Tze Yuan on 11th June 2010 at around 7pm after being 6 days over due (EDD 5th June). It's amazing how fast time flies. The first few days were pretty daunting especially since I had a cesarean. So much for a small baby. He ballooned from 2.9kg within 5 days to a whopping 3.6kgs. Initially was disappointed that I was unable to have a natural birth but a c-section was unavoidable as I did not dilate and my pelvis was too small for my baby. The next disappointment I encountered was the fact that I could not breastfeed as my milk supply was unable to meet his demand.
Since then I have come to terms to accept the above and have resolved to try and enjoy every moment with my son. Everyone especially my hubby and in-laws are over the moon about gaining his/their first son/grandson!
I am lucky to have such a strong support system from everyone and a good confinement lady "Ah Fah" who has been taking excellent care of me and Jeremy. Some times I dread the day when I will have to return to my own house (currently confinement is at my aunt's house) and take care of baby all by myself. These next few weeks are crucial for me to learn as much as I can from Ah Fah.
So far Jeremy sleeps most of the day but is up at least 3 times at night after 12am. He seems to need hourly feeding during those times. I hope he will grow out of it after a month!
